There is a novel by Vinod Kumar Shukla ‘In the Walls there is a Window’.
This photo essay is inspired by that novel. The female protagonist in the story has a patch of nature that lives in the window on her wall. It is a world replete with mountains, a river, waterfalls, wild birds and animals, elephants.
Our world is like that too it’s just that we don’t register it very often.
I have taken these photos from the various windows I have looked through on my journeys around India. These windows were sometimes those of my car, or a train or some run down building.
We feel safest in enclosed spaces, and yet we always put a window into the walls of these spaces. Windows connect us to nature and we feel free even while being enclosed.
I hope you experience a feeling of freedom through these photographs. Look out of your window today and see what patch of nature it has for you!
