Jamshedpur, situated in Jharkhand (erstwhile Bihar) is named after Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata. Home to Tata Steel and Tata Motors, Jamshedpur is mainly an industrial town.
It holds the trophy for being the first ever planned city in India. Yes, that’s true! Apart from other things, it also boasts of starting the first football academy in the country. And so obviously it has a team in ISL as well – Jamshedpur FC.
Also known as Tatanagar or The Steel City, Jamshedpur will take your breath away when you come here. The quality of life is one of the best you will find in the country. Because of the pace of life, it sometimes gives you the feeling of living in the 1980s or 1990s.
The facilities provided in the town are way above average when you look at India as a whole. It has a great club culture with sports facilities such as Golf, Tennis, Squash, Horse Riding, Archery etc.
Club life is a way of living in Jamshedpur and two clubs here have golf courses. One is Golmuri Golf Course which is a complete 18 hole golf course while the other one is Beldih Golf Course which is a 9 hole course. Every year Tata Steel holds the professional Tata Open tournament in both the courses. It’s a marquee event in the Indian Golf calendar.
When people come here for the first time, they do not believe that a city like this exists in Jharkhand. You have to come here to believe it.
Once this lockdown is over, I would strongly recommend people to visit this city to get the feel of it. Like they say, “Padharo Mare Des :)”
